Challenge

Two outfalls near a bridge in Estevan, Saskatchewan suffered severe erosion due to the failure of the original rip rap and half-cut PVC pipe design, prompting the need for a more durable and long-lasting repair solution.

The Titan Solution

Concrete Canvas® CC13™ was selected for its impermeability and concrete-like durability. The material was installed in both transverse and longitudinal layers—transverse on the west and longitudinal on the east side of the highway—anchored directly to the slope, simplifying and accelerating the installation process.

Concrete Canvas® (CC) is a Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (GCCM), a factory-produced material combining cement within geosynthetic layers that hardens when hydrated for erosion control and weed suppression.

Achievement

In June 2021, a four-person crew completed the installation of 80 sq. m of CC13™ in just one day, delivering a fast, effective, and resilient solution for long-term outfall protection.
