Landfill Cell Cover: GCL/Multi-Layer Geosynthetic System

Industry
Solid Waste Management
Challenge:
Titan faced harsh winter conditions and limited daylight while installing a complex multi-layer geosynthetic lining system at the Rocky Mountain Regional Landfill.
Achievement:
Despite the seasonal obstacles, Titan successfully completed the project on time, securing the system with innovative solutions like geotextile stitching for winter durability.
Product Used:
Nonwoven Geotextile, HDPE Liners
Location: Rocky Mountain House, Alberta
Project Type: Product Supply & Installation
Product Used: Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL), HDPE geomembrane, Geocell, Nonwoven Geocomposite & 10 oz. geotextile
Challenge
The Rocky Mountain Regional Landfill required a multi-layer geosynthetic covering for their cell 2 construction project, which was scheduled to be completed during the winter months.
The Titan Solution
Titan supplied and installed the geosynthetic lining system which needed to be tied into an existing landfill cell. The project was completed late in the year, so cold weather was a factor. Titan recommended stitching the top layer of geotextile to keep that layer secure over the winter months.
HDPE geomembrane liners are the industry’s top choice for lining projects due to their superior strength, solvent resistance, UV durability, and cost-effective performance—even in high-temperature applications.
Achievement
Titan was chosen for this project due to our extensive experience installing multi-layer landfill cell lining systems. Despite the cold and short daylight hours, our crew rose to the challenge to successfully complete another winter project!
