Mine Slime Pond - Four Layer Geosynthetic System

Industry
Civil Infrastructure
Challenge:
To line a 40,500 m² (435,000 sq. ft.) slime pond, a local mine site required a highly durable liner system.
Achievement:
Our experience with similar projects and the mine’s positive experience with our previous slime pond installations led to us being awarded the contract.
Product Used:
HDPE Geomembrane Liner, Nonwoven Geotextile
Location: Cigar Lake, Saskatchewan
Project Type: Product Supply & Installation
Product Used: 12 oz. non-woven geotextile, 80 mil smooth geomembrane, geonet and 80 mil single-sided textured geomembrane.
Challenge
The client was looking for a solution to separate the lakebed and rock in a lake causeway.
Titan Solution
We lined the slime pond with a four-layer geosynthetic system including 12 oz. non-woven geotextile, 80 mil smooth geomembrane, geonet and 80 mil single-sided textured geomembrane. We installed each layer as specified and successfully completed the project within the projected time frame amidst strict site requirements and less than ideal weather conditions.
Geomembranes, are synthetic, impermeable liners used with soil or rock to prevent fluid migration in engineered structures.
Achievement
We were awarded the project based on our experience with these projects and the mine’s satisfaction with our work on previous slime pond lining projects.
