Landfill Cell Lining - GCL / Multi-Layer Lining System

Industry
Wastewater
Challenge:
A new landfill cell was under construction at the Thorhild Waste Management Facility to expand capacity and support long-term waste disposal needs for the region.
Achievement:
Despite record-breaking heat and extreme rain events in summer 2021, the project was completed on time and on budget, showcasing the team’s resilience and effective execution.
Product Used:
Nonwoven Geotextile, HDPE Liners, Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL)
Location: Thorhild, Alberta
Project Type: Product Supply & Installation
Product Used: 60mil HDPE DST, Double Sided Geocomposite, 8oz & 16oz Nonwoven Geotextile & Geosynthetic Clay Liner (GCL)
Challenge
A new landfill cell was being constructed at Thorhild's Waste Management plant.
Titan Solution
The cell had a surface area of 52,000m² and a layered structure with five layers in total. We completed the project to engineer design specifications.
HDPE geomembrane liners are the industry’s top choice for lining projects due to their superior strength, solvent resistance, UV durability, and cost-effective performance—even in high-temperature applications.
Achievement
The installation occurred in the summer of 2021, during one of the hottest heat waves on record. There were also extreme rain events, which posed difficulties. Despite this, we were able to complete the project on time and on budget.
