Challenge
Ward & Burke, a leading microtunnelling construction company, was undertaking a project in Turku, Finland, on the Aura River at the mouth of the Baltic Sea. This project consisted of an 804m long, 2.98m diameter tunnel with triple curve built with 4m long lined concrete pipe sections. It was the first microtunnelling project of its kind in Finland.
Titan Solution
As part of this project, Titan supplied concrete protective liner for the concrete pipe sections and completed installation work, which included capping over 200 pipe section joints and repairing port holes throughout the pipeline.
Concrete Protection Liner (CPL) is made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), provides superior protection compared to other technologies.
Achievement
Titan was selected for this project because of our depth of experience with concrete tunnel lining. Our efficiency and preparedness resulted in our scope of work being completed 10 days ahead of schedule, saving on overall project costs.
