Channel Lining

Industry
Civil Infrastructure
Challenge:
The Royal Commission Jubail needed a fast, erosion-resistant channel lining solution that avoided road closures and delays during heavy rains.
Achievement:
430m² of CCH8™ were installed in just two days without disrupting traffic, delivering a durable, impermeable channel that continued to perform successfully years after installation.
Product Used:
Concrete Canvas®
Location: Jubail, Saudi Arabia
Project Type: Product Supply
Product Used: Concrete Canvas® CCH8 Bulk Rolls
Challenge
The Royal Commission Jubail required a durable, erosion-resistant channel lining that could be installed quickly and without road closures, especially to handle heavy rainfall, but conventional concrete methods were too time-consuming and disruptive.
The Titan Solution
Concrete Canvas Hydro™ (CCH5™ and CCH8™) was selected for its fast installation and impermeable properties. The channel was cleared, graded, and compacted before laying geotextile and deploying CCH from bulk rolls. The material was thermally welded, anchored in trenches, and hydrated during cooler evening hours to ensure proper curing. Gravel was added for a clean finish, and the system was secured to existing infrastructure using stainless steel strips and bolts.
Concrete Canvas® (CC) is a Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (GCCM), a factory-produced material combining cement within geosynthetic layers that hardens when hydrated for erosion control and weed suppression.
Achievement
430m² of CCH8™ were installed in just two days without requiring road closures, delivering a cost-effective and long-lasting solution. A follow-up visit in January 2020 confirmed the channel was still performing as designed, validating the success of the installation.
