Challenge

At a rail intermodal facility in Rossville, Tennessee, a steep slope previously protected with riprap had deteriorated over time. The slope became difficult to maintain and no longer met regulatory standards, prompting the client to seek a more effective, low-maintenance solution that could prevent surface saturation and ensure long-term stability.

The Titan Solution

2,787 m² of CC5™ Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (GCCM) were installe and branded as Concrete Cloth™ in the U.S. The material was delivered in bulk rolls and laid longitudinally from crest to toe. Layers were overlapped by 100 mm, secured with percussion earth anchors, and the edges were fixed in anchor trenches before backfilling.

Concrete Canvas® (CC) is a Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (GCCM), a factory-produced material combining cement within geosynthetic layers that hardens when hydrated for erosion control and weed suppression.

Achievement

The installation was completed at a rate of approximately 557 m² per day, providing a durable, low-maintenance slope protection solution. The client was highly satisfied with the outcome and recognized Concrete Canvas® as a viable option for future projects.
