Challenge
Improving ventilation in the lower levels of the Mt. Charlotte Underground Mine required constructing permanent walls in remote, hard-to-access areas where traditional methods like shotcrete were impractical.
The Titan Solution
Concrete Canvas® CC13™ was selected for its ease of deployment and minimal labor requirements. Installed using a mesh and prong system, the material was manually secured and hydrated, allowing for efficient wall construction without heavy equipment.
Concrete Canvas® (CC) is a Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (GCCM), a factory-produced material combining cement within geosynthetic layers that hardens when hydrated for erosion control and weed suppression.
Achievement
30m² of CC13™ were successfully installed by just three workers in three days, demonstrating a fast, scalable, and cost-effective solution for future vent wall installations in the mine.
