Challenge

In January 2023, strong winds and heavy rains caused severe erosion on a slope near an access road at an electric-distribution substation, threatening the structural integrity of the facility and requiring a fast, cost-effective, and low-disruption solution.

The Titan Solution

Titan installed 8,600 ft² of CCT1™ Bulk Rolls on two slopes, following slope reprofiling and regrading. The CC1™ was laid transversally with thermal-bonded and screwed joints, anchored with concrete-filled trenches and additional Gripple wire tendon anchors to resist wind uplift. The solution required minimal equipment, reduced deliveries, and avoided operational disruptions.

Concrete Canvas® (CC) is a Geosynthetic Cementitious Composite Mat (GCCM), a factory-produced material combining cement within geosynthetic layers that hardens when hydrated for erosion control and weed suppression.

Achievement

The installation was completed within days, strictly adhering to design and CC guidelines, delivering a durable, environmentally friendly, and operationally efficient slope protection system that outperformed conventional concrete methods in speed, cost, and sustainability.
