Water Management

Challenge

A retirement residence in Bradford, Ontario needed 550 m³ of underground stormwater storage within a tight footprint — and had to counteract uplift pressure from high groundwater while working around a single site access road.

Results

Titan supplied and installed the 550 m³ StormSmart™ system, containment liner included, in just two days — giving the development the verified stormwater capacity it needed on a constrained site.

Key Product

StormSmart™

Location: Bradford, Ontario, Canada

Project Type: Design Assistance, Material Supply & Liner Installation

Product Used: StormSmart™ Underground Stormwater Tank

Challenge

A new retirement building in Bradford, Ontario required an underground system to manage surface-water runoff. The project required 550 m³ of storage within a limited footprint.

cccc High groundwater conditions added another layer of complexity, requiring the design to account for uplift pressure on the buried tank and careful monitoring throughout installation.

With only one access road to the site, the project also required careful coordination of material deliveries, equipment movement, and installation activities to keep the work progressing efficiently.

The Solution

Titan worked with the project engineer during design, supplied the StormSmart™ system, and completed the full system installation, including the containment liner. The system's high void ratio provided the required storage volume within the available footprint, while its low profile helped address buoyancy considerations associated with the site's high groundwater conditions.

Given the groundwater conditions, the containment liner was a critical component of the installation. Titan's skilled welding technicians installed the liner using industry-standard welding techniques in accordance with IAGI practices, with QA/QC procedures performed throughout to support an impermeable system.

Titan also provided ongoing site attendance throughout the installation to coordinate activities, help ensure the system was installed smoothly, and allow the project engineer to verify the work on site.

StormSmart's high void ratio delivers the storage capacity a project needs within a tight footprint — without the buoyancy risk that comes with a high water table.

The Results

Titan supplied and installed the 550 m³ StormSmart™ underground stormwater system, including the containment liner, in just two days.
